Wow. First Oprah Winfrey’s show came to an end. And now Gwen Ifill has died. That makes two of the most respectable voices of colored women to have disappeared from the American mass media. I met Gwen Ifill when I was in high school and she was really positive role model and gave very encouraging words to me, being we were minorities in Deep South. I think what I get from the public figures is sometimes you just have to fight for that self-respect, but do it in a classy way. Now what prominent black woman will have same caliber as these two black women, Omarosa Manigault? I don’t think so. We need heroes from all walks of life because it makes us better people.
